Pecan pie
A pecan pie is a classic and delicious dessert that is perfect for any occasion. This recipe is easy to follow and produces a rich, creamy cake with a strong pecan flavor.
Ingredients:
- For the crust:
- 200 g of flour
- 100 g of cold butter
- 1 teaspoon of sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 50 ml of ice water
- For the stuffing:
- 200 g of cane sugar
- 100 g of melted butter
- 3 eggs
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 250 g of pecans
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 180°C.
- Prepare the crust. In a food processor, pulse together the flour, butter, sugar and salt until sandy. Add ice water a tablespoon at a time until dough comes together. Wrap the dough in a sheet of cling film and place it in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
- Prepare the filling. In a large bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and salt. Add the pecans and mix until incorporated.
- Roll out the dough into a 23cm tart pan. Pour the filling into the crust and smooth the surface.
- Bake the pie in the oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the filling is set and golden. Let the cake cool completely before cutting and serving.
Suggestions:
- For a crispier crust, bake it in the oven for 10 minutes before adding the filling.
- You can add other ingredients to the filling, such as chocolate, candied fruit or cinnamon.
- For a richer cake, you can replace the butter with nut butter.
Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dusting of icing sugar for the perfect dessert.
